Kathryn and Leanna had a rustic styled wedding at The Hayloft in McLeansville, NC. This was my first time photographing a same sex wedding, and what a wonderful couple to have the pleasure of photographing!
The two met by chance, but once they met, they instantly fell for each other. Kathryn proposed to Leanna just a short 6 months later on Pleasure Island in a very creative and fun way. The two were on vacation with some friends. A few days after arriving, their best friend Mel went out for a “Girls Day” to do some shopping with Leanna. Little did Leanna know, this was a ploy to get her out of the house so that the fun could begin. After shopping they were to meet up with the gang for dinner. When they arrived, everyone was there, but Kathryn was nowhere to be found. Leanna was then handed a sunflower and a note. As it turns out the note was a clue and the beginning of a scavenger hunt across the island. From there, she had several stops, lots of sunflowers, and many clues awaiting her. At each stop she was surprised with friends and family members that she didn’t even know were in town. With each clue she grew more and more aware of what was happening. Her final stop was at the beautiful gazebo on the water at Fort Fisher. She had never been more nervous than she was taking that long walk to the gazebo with all eyes on her. She finally got there and everyone was there…and standing in the middle of the crowd was a beautiful girl holding even more sunflowers. Katheryn was equally nervous. Leanna cried through Kathryn’s speech, but could not wait to put that ring on her finger. Congratulations to a beautiful couple and many wishes for a long and happy marriage!!!
